^^ This was the day before we decided to change her name ^^
…And just like that — we’re a family of four!
Lucy stayed at my parent’s house the night that I labored at the hospital, and my Mom said she hardly slept at all! She was so anxious talking about the baby all night – ha! After Greta was born, we decided to wait until everyone left, for Lucy to meet Greta for the first time. I assumed it would be an overwhelming experience for her, so I wanted her to come after her nap, and when it was just Brad and I there. My Mom tried to put her down for her afternoon nap, but once again, she wouldn’t sleep because she was so anxious and excited about the baby! So I told my Mom to just bring her without having a nap. My Mom called and told me that she fell asleep in the car, which was a recipe for disaster because it was almost 5pm – haha! I was sooo nervous about how Lucy was going to react. Brad went down and got her out of the car, brought her in, and she was fassssst asleep. We giggled as we set both of our girls next to each other as they slept! They were both in for a rude awakening! Haha! About an hour later, Lucy woke up all rosey cheeked and confused, and immediately pointed to Greta kicking in the basinet saying “WHAT’S THAT!?” Hahaha! Brad responded “It’s our baby!” as we looked at each other unsure how this was going to go down… Then to our surprise she said “I wanna hold it!” — It was such a relief. Brad took her out in the hall to wake up for a bit, and then we placed Greta in her arms! Lucy laughed over every little grunt that Greta would let out. It’s safe to say that they became besties from the moment they met. 😉 It truly was magical to soak it the first moments of being a family of four.
