Lucy and I decided to match for our first day of adventure in Kyoto! As if we didn’t already stick out like total sore thumbs. :p We were getting so many looks from people, everywhere we went! Our first stop was Kiyomizu-Dera and it was so much bigger than we had thought. We got stuck taking pictures at the red temple at the bottom, and buying hilarious trinkets out of the vending machines! We found our way up to the top (I was shocked it was wheelchair accessible clear up there!? Just FYI.) and the lookout was amazing! The view overlooked the city of Kyoto and another couple temples across the valley. The only bummer was that the giant deck that Kiyomizu-Dera is famous for, was under construction! So we will have to come back. Especially for the cherry blossoms. Right, Brad? 😉 The cherry blossoms were a little late to bloom this year. So every time there was a tree in bloom, everyone flocked to it for pictures!

We walked around Gion and met some real life Geisha’s! I got lucky to get a picture with them, because they were legit. They happened to ask Brad to take a picture of them, and so I quickly asked them for a favor in return. They said no to anyone to asked for pictures after! I felt so honored. The cobble stone roads put Lucy to sleep and made Greta burst into laughter! Seriously every time we started moving she thought it was the funniest thing ever. She is such  a little ray of sunshine! There were a couple parts where we had to pick up our stroller and carry it down the stairs, and I called that my workout for the day. Our full stroller is SO HEAVY.

We finished the day at the Torii Gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine, and it was gorgeous at sunset. We saw a couple getting their engagement photos done in there traditional dress, and we stood behind the photographer watching for a little while. The whole scene was out of a storybook!
