We had the opportunity to partner with The West Virginia Department of Tourism last week, and honestly we made the best family memories during our stay! We flew in through Pittsburgh, and I was nervous how Pippa would do on the flight but honestly she surprised us all and actually slept on the plane!? Flying with any 12-18 month old is difficult because they have such a short attention span and want to constantly move – so we were so relieved! We brought her comfort items from home like her blanket, sleep sack, and bottle, which helped make it go smoothly. She also did a lot of running around the airport with Lucy and Greta before boarding the plane which helped wipe her out!
After a short three-hour drive we arrived at our lake house at Stonewall Resort and all the kids were so excited to stay here! Like running through the door and jumping for joy when they saw we had fish food and kayaks in the backyard. On the property there’s over 20 miles of hiking trails, boardwalks, kayaks, golfing, biking, pontoon rentals, pool, and fire pit right out your back door – so it was seriously perfect for our mountain loving family. So first things first, we threw on our swimsuits and went out the door to explore! We found ourselves at the dock daring each other to jump off into the lake! Brad took the plunge first, then Lucy, me, Greta, and even little Pipps! She loves swimming so much that she kept grabbing Brad to put her back in hahah – that girl loves to swim and keeps us on our toes whenever we’re near a body of water, even when she’s fully clothed!
The next couple of days it rained on and off but honestly it was so beautiful!? And Stonewall Resort was perfect because it offers so much to do no matter the weather – So we swam in the indoor pool, threw on our rain jackets for a hike, went into town for a fun little paint class, enjoyed the best meals on the property and spent our evenings around the campfire! Safe to say, our stay wasn’t long enough because the girls didn’t want to leave. We had such a fun time relaxing, reconnecting, and making memories in the mountains as a family – now we’re itching to go back to West Virginia to see all the amazing fall colors!
